Improve skin elasticity, visual acuity, and muscle recovery*
Astaxanthin is a high-potency antioxidant shown in studies to be very safe, with few or no adverse effects even in doses up to 45mg/day. Multiple human studies show that our 12mg daily serving can support skin resilience, eye health, cognitive function, muscle recovery, blood lipid regulation, and protection against oxidative stress.*
We use AstaPure® astaxanthin, a supercritical CO2 extraction sustainably sourced from microalgae, because that is the source most successfully studied in humans and the extraction method that translates into the greatest efficacy.* In the form and daily quantity that we provide, studies show that astaxanthin may:
Protect your skin and fortify vision*
We use marigold extract as a rich, natural source of the antioxidant carotenoid lutein, which notably concentrates in the human retina, where studies show it promotes contrast sensitivity and protection from light-related stress.*
Lutein has been studied in humans by itself as well as paired with zeaxanthin or both zeaxanthin and astaxanthin. Used at clinically consistent doses, lutein and zeaxanthin complement astaxanthin by supporting eye health, skin health, and cognitive function at the tissue level.* Our daily serving of 10mg lutein has been shown to:
Enhance skin and vision improvements alongside lutein*
Researchers have studied the effects of zeaxanthin alongside lutein and astaxanthin as well as in isolation. A daily serving of 10mg lutein and 2mg zeaxanthin recurs in human research. Our serving of zeaxanthin has been shown in human studies to:
Supported by clinical research

Astaxanthin, 12mg (Haematococcus pluvialis extract, as AstaPure®)
Astaxanthin is a carotenoid found in nature and consumed through human diet. It imparts a red pigment to organisms such as salmon, algae, lobster, crab, and shrimp. Multiple clinical trials support a 12mg astaxanthin daily serving to provide meaningful benefits of skin and eye health, cognition, sleep, and oxidative stress.* Astaxanthin belongs to the class of carotenoid pigments called xanthophylls, which can also be found in fruits, vegetables, and other plants. Astaxanthin sourced from the microalgae Haematococcus pluvialis offers the strongest results in human research, which is why we use AstaPure® astaxanthin from H. pluvialis in Astaxanthin+.
Lutein, 10mg and zeaxanthin, 2mg (Marigold flower extract)
Lutein and zeaxanthin provide compounding benefits on top of astaxanthin’s known effects, like skin health and cognition.* As fellow members of the xanthophyll class of carotenoids, they can be found naturally in various plants, including kale, spinach, squash, and marigold flowers. Xanthophylls like lutein and zeaxanthin are also found in the human eye, where they function as antioxidant pigments that shield the eye from harmful effects of blue light.* Our clinically consistent doses of 10mg lutein and 2mg zeaxanthin come from a botanical marigold flower extract, rather than a synthetic laboratory source.

This is one of those things I’m taking without feeling any different but trusting that it’s good for me. Should I keep going with it? If I stop, will I suddenly age 100 yrs like in Indiana Jones? Probably not, but do think it’s good for me so I’ll probably keep going.

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes astaxanthin different from other antioxidants?
Astaxanthin integrates into cell membranes and can cross both the blood-brain and blood-retinal barriers — allowing it to provide antioxidant support in ways many common antioxidants cannot.*
Why is astaxanthin often called a “high-potency” antioxidant?
In human and laboratory research, astaxanthin demonstrates strong antioxidant activity and remains stable after neutralizing free radicals, unlike some antioxidants that may become unstable in the process.*
Do carotenoids turn into vitamin A in the body?
Some carotenoids convert to vitamin A in the body, but none of the carotenoids in our supplement do. (In fact, there is only one carotenoid in the xanthophyll class that can convert to vitamin A: β-cryptoxanthin.)
How is this different from taking a standard multivitamin?
Most multivitamins provide general antioxidant nutrients. Astaxanthin, lutein, and zeaxanthin are targeted carotenoids shown to concentrate in specific tissues such as the retina and cell membranes, supporting focused antioxidant protection.*
How long until I notice effects?
Human studies indicate that positive effects for skin and eyes can become apparent within 1-3 months of daily use. As potent antioxidants, the ingredients in Astaxanthin+ can also provide anti-inflammatory and anti-aging effects that are less perceptible but profoundly valuable over the long haul.*
Can this support cognitive health?
Astaxanthin crosses the blood-brain barrier, allowing it to provide antioxidant support directly to brain tissue. Human research suggests this may support cognitive function under oxidative stress.*
Can I take Astaxanthin+ with other supplements or medications?
We formulated Astaxanthin+ to be effective and safe for healthy adults, based on human research. But as with any dietary supplement, you should speak to your doctor before introducing this supplement to your routine. Only through discussion with your healthcare practitioner can you arrive properly at a conclusion that the supplement is safe and recommendable for you, based on your underlying health and any medications or supplements you are already taking.
Should I cycle Astaxanthin+?
There is no science-based need to cycle this product. Scientific research suggests numerous reasons why taking it daily is beneficial for healthy adults.*
When should I take Astaxanthin+?
The time of day does not matter, but it’s best to take Astaxanthin+ each day with a meal or following a meal.
